Shelter from the NorthEast

A predominant wind in Dunedin over summer is the North Easter. This wind when howling blows out most surf breaks along the Otago coast, making them unsurfable.

Three surf breaks are sheltered from these north east winds, two have been unsurfable due to sewerage issues, leaving only Blackhead.

Now with the lowering of the headland due to quarrying, the surf break has been progressively more affected by the North East wind.
